Privacy Policy

Bubble Chat ("the app") is a lightweight chat experience. Most of the app works anonymously. This page explains what data the app collects, how it's used, and what it isn't used for.

Anonymous use

You don't need an account to read the public postfach. When you first open the app, it generates a random, anonymous device ID on your device and stores it locally. This ID is sent to the server with requests so the app can, for example, deliver a private message back to the right device. On its own it cannot be used to identify you personally.

Google Sign-In (optional)

Signing in is only required to post messages and manage an account, and is done with your Google account via Firebase Authentication. When you sign in, we receive and store your Google account ID, email address, name, and profile picture URL, so the app can show who posted a message and let you manage your account. This data is stored in our database until you delete your account or ask us to delete it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and all associated data (email, name, profile picture) at any time directly in the app: tap your profile picture in the top-left corner, then "Delete account". This immediately and permanently removes your account from our database. You can also request deletion by emailing [email protected].

What gets sent to the server

• The anonymous device ID described above.
• Text you type into the app (a public message, or a private reply) - needed to display or process it.
• If you enable notifications, a push notification token (provided by Firebase Cloud Messaging) so the app can notify you when a private reply arrives.
• If you sign in, your Google account ID, email, name, and profile picture URL (see above).

What we don't do

• No advertising and no ad-tracking SDKs.
• We don't sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
• We don't collect precise location, contacts, photos, or any device data beyond what's described above.

How long data is kept

Device IDs, public and private messages, and push tokens are kept only in memory, not in a persistent database - this data is not backed up and is cleared whenever the server restarts. Account data (Google account ID, email, name, profile picture) is stored persistently until you delete your account as described above.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use this app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
